Supported Independent Living

Supported Independant living (SIL)

NDIS Registration Group: 0115 – Daily Task/ Shared Living

A good home environment can change everything.

When participants feel comfortable where they live, everyday life often becomes less stressful, routines become easier to manage, and confidence can slowly begin to grow again.

At CECP, SIL support is built around helping participants feel settled, supported, and more in control of their everyday lives while still maintaining their independence and personal choice.

We understand that shared or supported living is not only about support hours and daily tasks — it’s about personalities, routines, comfort, communication, and creating an environment where people feel respected and emotionally safe.

Some participants enjoy a more social household, while others prefer quieter and more structured environments. CECP takes the time to understand what works best for the individual so the home environment feels more balanced, comfortable, and suitable for their needs.

What Life Inside SIL Can Look Like

For one participant, a successful day may simply mean:

  • waking up feeling calm
  • having support nearby when needed
  • enjoying meals comfortably
  • feeling included within the home

For another participant, it may involve:

  • building confidence with routines
  • learning everyday responsibilities
  • becoming more independent over time
  • feeling safer and more stable emotionally

Support Within SIL May Include:

🚿 Assistance with personal care
🍲 Meal preparation and shared cooking support
🧹 Household routines and maintaining shared spaces
💊 Medication prompting and wellbeing support
🚗 Transport and community participation
💬 Emotional support and companionship
📅 Help building structure and routine
🕌 Faith-friendly and culturally respectful support

The CECP Environment

At CECP, we try to create homes that feel:

  • welcoming instead of institutional
  • calm instead of overwhelming
  • supportive without removing independence
  • respectful of personal space, routines, and personality

We understand that the atmosphere inside a home matters just as much as the support itself.

What Families Often Notice First

Families often tell us they notice:

  • calmer environments
  • more approachable support workers
  • better communication
  • participants appearing more settled and comfortable

Our focus is not only on delivering support tasks, but also on creating a positive and stable living experience overall.

A Different Approach to Supported Living

Rather than making participants fit into a system, CECP tries to build support around the person — their routines, preferences, comfort levels, goals, and way of living.

Because at the end of the day, supported living should still feel like living with full independence— not just being supported.
